You know that book you’ve been thinking about writing for years? I want to help you write it.
Since starting The Writer’s Sherpa, LLC, in 2007, I’ve ghostwritten twelve book manuscripts and edited countless others. I’ve taught writing workshops and consulted with clients one-on-one about their projects. And in doing all that, I’ve learned a lot about writing books and the reasons people struggle to achieve this awesome and worthwhile goal.
Writing, I’ll be honest, has always kind of been my thing. I have a bachelors degree in journalism and lots of magazine and newspaper publications. I have an MFA in creative writing and, when I’m not working on a client project, I write creative nonfiction and fiction. The best part of my business is putting my creative writing and workshopping skills to work for my clients.
My specialties are creative nonfiction, like memoir and personal essay, and self-help and business books. I use questions and processes I’ve honed over the years to help aspiring authors get clear on the real story they were meant to tell, organize their material in a powerful way, and write a book that tells their story and delivers their big message.
So if you’ve got lots of ideas, but you’re not sure how to put them all together in a cohesive book; or you’ve started writing, but you’re not happy with it, and you don’t know what to do next; or you have several small pieces, like blog posts or articles, and you want to bring them together to communicate something larger to your readers, then please, hang out for a while. Maybe leave a comment.
This blog is a culmination of everything I’ve learned about writing books. I will try to be as helpful as possible.
I publish an e-mail newsletter that’s filled with tips for authors and folks who are writing a book. You can (and definitely should) subscribe by putting your name and e-mail in the form below.
